Good News!
Florida just passed one of the strongest animal protection laws in its history.
Starting this October, abandoning a dog during a natural disaster, like a hurricane, can mean up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Leaving a dog tied up without food, water, or shelter will now be a first-degree misdemeanor.
In Florida, this is punishable by up to one year in jail, one year of probation, and a $1,000 fine.
This law was inspired by an alarming real-life events..
A dog was chained to a fence during a hurricane, left to face the wind and water alone. A state trooper found him just in time.
At 600MillionDogs, we believe protection should not start after cruelty happens — it should begin before a dog is even born into danger.
This is why we are developing a cookie to break the cycle of suffering before it starts.
A cookie that will safely spay or neuter a stray dog or cat, and they will only have to eat one cookie, one time!
With your help, we will end this suffering.
Thank you very much for helping and for caring.
