Kittens wait alone under the morning sun. Morning light hits a building entrance where a cardboard box was set down hours earlier.  Inside are newborn kittens, still curled together and alive only because the night stayed warm enough. They were born within the past few days, too young to see, unable to move far, and entirely dependent on care they never received.
