Why are dogs like Ruby, dropping dead on Earth Day?

My name is Ruby.
I was a stray pup born into a world that never wanted me.
I had no home, no name.
Thankfully, I am one of the lucky ones rescued by Team 600,
— and now I use my voice to speak for those who didn’t make it.
Earth Day should be a celebration, but all I feel is heartbreak for my fellow animals who are struggling to survive.
This Earth Day, for many animals, there is nothing to celebrate.
Take Morocco, for example: up to 3 million stray dogs are on track to be killed, in the name of soccer.
They face inhumane poisoning just to "clean up" the streets for an upcoming international soccer tournament.
Our planet should be a place of love, not cruelty.
Sadly, it is not just my kind who are suffering.
Our four-legged friends, the cats are suffering too, but they’re quieter about it.
They hide when they’re scared.
Most people don’t even see them.
But they are there, facing the same cruelty.
What does Earth Day have to do with our birth control Cookie?
We believe that Earth Day is about saving our planet and saving those who share it with us.
Tragically, unwanted births bring unwanted misery.
At any given time, there are 600 million stray dogs around the world — 600 million lives filled with unwanted misery.
The best way to end this unwanted misery is to prevent it before it ever starts.
We are developing a cookie to break the cycle of suffering before it starts.
A cookie that will safely spay or neuter a STRAY DOG OR CAT, and they will only have to eat one cookie, one time!
With your help, we will end this suffering and make our Earth a much better place for everyone.
Please join us.
Thank you very much for helping, and for caring.
With a hopeful heart,
Ruby
