3,000,000 street dogs are at risk of being brutally massacred as Morocco bids to co-host an international soccer tournament — the FIFA World Cup in 2030.
Authorities kill 300,000 dogs in the North African country each year. Since FIFA’s recent announcement, reports indicate a chilling increase in these horrifying killings.
If Morocco wins the bid to co-host the tournament on December 11, 2024, the brutal slaughter of stray dogs is likely to intensify.
Stray dogs in the country are poisoned, shot, and left to suffer agonizing deaths, all to create a “cleaner” image for visitors.

In 2019, the Moroccan government signed an agreement to spay and neuter street dogs instead of killing them. However, local activists report that the government has failed to spay or neuter them and continues to engage in mass killings.
