She waited in the same corner every day - but no one came for her

This grassy spot marked the start of Lila's rescue.
This grassy spot marked the start of Lila's rescue.

We found Lila in the corner of a brick alley, not because she was trapped, but because that spot had become the only place she could turn to.

After spending the day picking through garbage piles for scraps, this patch of grass was all she had to call home.

There was no food waiting for her.

No soft place to lie down.

Just the hard ground, tangled weeds, and walls that blocked out the world but offered no comfort.

Lila lay low during rescue, carrying quiet sadness.
Lila lay low during rescue, carrying quiet sadness.

She had no collar, name tag, or sign that someone was coming for her.

She wasn’t aggressive, just tired and worn down from surviving alone.

But it was her eyes that said the most.

They were tired from begging, dodging kicks, and being ignored.

We gave her food, but she didn’t pounce on it like she hadn’t eaten in weeks.

Instead, she approached slowly, as if she didn’t fully trust this moment of kindness.

Lila stared, as if trying to understand the kindness.
Lila stared, as if trying to understand the kindness.

We knew Lila wasn’t safe.

Not just because she had no shelter, but because in places like this, stray dogs are often poisoned, beaten, or killed by authorities just to “clean up the streets.”

She didn’t deserve this life.

No dog does.

We took Lila to a veterinarian to make sure she was safe and healthy.

After weeks of care, healing, and recovery, she found what every dog deserves — a forever home.

She will never sleep in a dirt alley again.

Lila’s story ended with hope.

Today, Lila is safe and cared for.
Today, Lila is safe and cared for.

But thousands of others like her are still out there, scavenging, suffering, and surviving.

The world's 600 million stray dogs and 87 million stray cats give birth to over 1 billion homeless puppies and kittens every year.

Tragically, those who survive, also reproduce and give birth to another generation of homeless strays - thus repeating the cycle of suffering, every year.

They are a few of many—millions still lost, hungry, and alone out there
They are a few of many—millions still lost, hungry, and alone out there

This is why we are developing a one-time, permanent-lasting, birth control Cookie that, when eaten, will spay or neuter a homeless dog or cat without surgery, to end the overpopulation crisis.

You helped Lila get the care she needed.

You can help the next Lila before they’re born into the same misery, starting at just $7 a month.

Thank you so much for helping and caring for animals like Lila!
