Great News: California Ends Cruel Cat Declawing

Safe at last — no more pain for California’s cats.
Safe at last — no more pain for California’s cats.

We have wonderful news for cats everywhere!

California has become the largest state in the U.S. to ban cat declawing — a cruel and painful surgery that amputates the first bone of each toe, leaving cats in lifelong pain.

For decades, many cats lost not just their claws, but their natural way to defend, climb, and play.

The surgery left many in constant pain, struggling to walk or even use their litter box.

Some were later abandoned because of the very behaviors the surgery caused.

Now, this will no longer happen in California.

Compassion is now written into California law.

California has joined New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, which have already banned this painful surgery.

Nearly 40 countries, including England, Germany, and Australia, also forbid declawing — calling it what it is: mutilation.

As one animal advocate said, “Declawing isn’t a nail trim, it’s an amputation that has no place in a compassionate society.

California’s new law closes loopholes that once allowed declawing for convenience and now makes it punishable for any reason other than medical necessity.

It is a huge win for cats and a sign that compassion is finally catching up to science.

Free to climb, play, and live without pain.
Free to climb, play, and live without pain.

While cats in California can finally rest without pain, millions of dogs and other cats around the world still suffer, living and dying on the streets, trapped in the endless cycle of overpopulation.

The world's 600 million stray dogs and 87 million stray cats give birth to over 1 billion homeless puppies and kittens every year.

Tragically, those who survive also reproduce, creating another generation of homeless strays and repeating the cycle of suffering year after year.

Millions still wait for their chance at kindness.
Millions still wait for their chance at kindness.

This is why our mission is to end the #1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats — overpopulation — by developing a product that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will, in effect, spay or neuter — without surgery.

With your help, we will end this suffering.
