Good news from Europe: Scotland has taken a historic step to protect dogs.
The government has announced support for a full ban on greyhound racing, closing the door on an industry that exploited gentle animals for profit.
This victory means greyhounds will no longer be pushed to run at dangerous speeds, breaking their bodies for the sake of bets.
Instead, they will finally be able to live as they were meant to — running for joy, not for survival.
Only a handful of countries still allow commercial greyhound racing.
Now Scotland has joined the growing list refusing to let cruelty hide behind the name of “sport.”
This law is one of the strongest of its kind.
Ending greyhound racing outright, rather than leaving loopholes, ensures dogs will not be discarded, injured, or treated as disposable again.
While this victory closes one chapter of suffering, it opens our eyes to another: the millions of homeless dogs still born into hardship each year.
They may never see a racetrack, but their lives are just as fragile.
The world's 600 million stray dogs and 87 million stray cats give birth to over 1 billion homeless puppies and kittens every year.
Tragically, those who survive, also reproduce and give birth to another generation of homeless strays - thus repeating the cycle of suffering, every year.
Thank you for celebrating this victory with us and for standing with every dog who deserves a life of safety, dignity, and love.
