A company wants to freeze octopuses alive — Help stop it

In Spain’s Canary Islands, a company is planning to open the world’s first industrial octopus farm — where thousands of these intelligent, sensitive beings would be raised and killed for profit.
Octopuses can solve puzzles, recognize people, and even experience boredom and frustration.
In the ocean, an octopus spends her days exploring reefs and hiding in coral.
But inside this farm, they would be trapped in cold, barren tanks, deprived of everything that makes their lives meaningful.
Scientists warn that octopuses suffer deeply when confined.
They are solitary by nature; forcing them together causes severe stress, aggression, and cannibalism.
Yet this company plans to raise them in cramped tanks, only to later kill them by freezing them alive in icy water.
This is no humane way to farm octopuses.
They need space, freedom, and a natural environment that no tank can ever provide.
Keeping them confined for profit means nothing but suffering — and we must stop it before it starts.
No animal deserves this, and no government should allow it.
That is why we are calling on officials to stop this cruelty before it begins.
Spain must not be the first country to industrialize the suffering of octopuses.
Together, we can send a clear message: intelligent life should never be farmed for food.
If this facility opens, it could set a dangerous precedent, potentially leading to the establishment of octopus farms worldwide.
We still have time to stop this — but not for long.
Acting now could spare countless octopuses from a lifetime of misery.
Octopuses belong in the ocean, not in tanks.
Thank you for taking action on behalf of animals.
