5 ways to change your cat’s life this International Cat Day

Today is a day to shine a light on cats around the world.
Today is a day to shine a light on cats around the world.

Mira fell 380 feet alongside her guardians — but she was the only one who survived.

Despite fractured ribs, broken teeth, and a collapsed lung, she clung to life.

It took careful medical care and love, especially from her rescuer, the pilot who adopted her and gave her a safe home.

Today is International Cat Day.

We honor the courage and resilience of cats like Mira and shine a light on the billions more born homeless worldwide.

This day belongs to cats — and to all who care.
This day belongs to cats — and to all who care.

Here are five ways to mark the day and help your cat and other cats in meaningful ways:

1. Build a safe high spot at home

Place a stable shelf or secure box that your cat can climb onto, three to six feet high.

It gives nervous cats a peaceful place to rest away from noise or foot traffic.

2. Stimulate their mind with structured play

Structured play helps cats feel seen and safe.

Wand toys and interactive play build trust and reduce stress.

Five minutes a day is a gift many cats never receive.

This play also builds a cat’s confidence.

3. Offer quiet comfort

Notice if your cat prefers sun patches, soft beddings, or quiet corners.

Give them that exact comfort today, freely and without interruption.

4. Share their story

Post about a cat like Mira or others waiting for homes.

Authentic stories inspire support and awareness beyond shelters.

5. Support long‑term change

We will be working on a permanent, non‑surgical birth‑control cookie for cats after we are finished with that for dogs.

This method could stop suffering before it starts and curb endless cycles of homeless kittens.

Millions of kittens are born into hardship each year.
Millions of kittens are born into hardship each year.

As you share Mira’s story and celebrate today, remember:

The world’s 600 million stray dogs and 87 million stray cats give birth to over 1 billion homeless puppies and kittens every year.

Tragically, those who survive also reproduce and give birth to another generation of homeless strays – thus repeating the cycle of suffering, every year.

This is why we are developing a one-time birth control Cookie — to safely and permanently spay or neuter a stray dog or cat, without surgery.

With your help, we will end this suffering.

Thank you very much for helping and for caring.
