2,000 Days of Loneliness: Marriott's Journey to Find a Home

sad cats at shelter

What have the past 5 years of your life looked like? For a shy, gentle cat named Marriott, every day has looked almost the same.[1]

Marriott was found as a stray outside of a Marriott Hotel and brought to the Chesapeake Feline Association in Maryland.

The good news is, the shelter didn't give up on her. But this should have been the start of a new life for her. Instead, she’s spent over 2,000 days bored and lonely as many other animals are brought home before her.

It's estimated that at least 3.2 million cats enter shelters each year, and about 2.1 million are adopted. [1] The ones who are not adopted are typically killed by lethal injection, even if they are healthy and sweet, like Marriott. This tragedy has been going on for decades and needs to stop!

1. Adopt, don't shop. Save a life by rescuing from a shelter or rescue group, instead of supporting breeding!

2. Foster. Provide a temporary home for animals in need.

3. Volunteer your time. Support your local animal shelter and rescue groups!

4. Support innovative measures to solve the global stray animal crisis.

Hundreds of millions of homeless dogs and cats suffer on the streets in a desperate attempt to survive. But what about the ones who languish in shelters, waiting for a home that never comes?

The tragic reality is that far too many will never have the chance to experience a loving home and guardian.

Our mission is to end the #1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats -- overpopulation -- by developing a permanent-lasting birth control cookie that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will in effect spay or neuter -- without surgery.

For as little as $5 a month, you can help us stop the suffering before it starts!

Thank you for caring about animals!

P.S. As of the time that this email was sent, Marriott is still awaiting her forever home. If you live near Maryland and are interested in adopting her, check out PetFinder.com!
