She was gentle even after suffering…

Kiki did not run from anyone. She seemed to believe that being gentle would keep her safe.

We found Kiki lying on dusty ground beside stacked bricks at a construction site. 

The sun was scorching, and she had no shelter.

It was not a place any dog should live, but she had nowhere else to go.

She had no food or water, and the dirt beside the bricks was the only spot she could lie down.

When we approached, Kiki was gentle and friendly. 

She lifted her head, wagged softly, and accepted the food and water we offered. 

Her trust showed how much she longed for care.

Kiki’s body slowly relaxed as the food and water gave her strength again.

After she had eaten and rested, we brought her to our shelter. 

A veterinarian examined her and found she was healthy, only worn down from living outside without protection.

Kiki now has regular meals, clean water, and a safe place to sleep. 

She now spends her days with other dogs instead of lying alone under the hot sun.

Kiki is now safe and loved because of compassionate people like you.

Kiki is safe today, but millions of dogs and cats are still out there, searching for scraps in places never meant to be homes.

The world's 600 million stray dogs and 87 million stray cats give birth to more than 1 billion homeless puppies and kittens each year.
