She was covered in lice and dirt when we found her

Sugar’s body showed the strain of surviving on scraps.
Sugar’s body showed the strain of surviving on scraps.

When we found Sugar, she was picking through piles of garbage in an empty lot.

Plastic bags, food wrappers, and other waste covered the ground around her.

Her head stayed low as she moved from one pile to the next.

Her fur was dirty and filled with lice.

Despite her condition, she walked straight toward us and allowed us to place a leash on her.

Her gentle nature stood out from the moment we met her, and it was the reason we named her Sugar.

We brought Sugar to our veterinarian for a full examination.

Sugar was malnourished, but no major injuries were found.
Sugar was malnourished, but no major injuries were found.

She was underweight and needed treatment for the lice covering her body.

After her treatment, she received regular meals, clean water, and a safe place to recover.

She slowly regained her strength.

The dirt disappeared from her coat, and healthy fur began to grow back.

Sugar remained as gentle as the day we rescued her.

Today, Sugar is one of our Pilot Pups.

Pilot Pups are dogs we rescue from the streets, feed a trial One Dose Spay and Neuter Cookie, and then adopt into loving homes.

Today, Sugar has the life every dog deserves.
Today, Sugar has the life every dog deserves.

Sugar is now safe, but millions of other homeless dogs are still living on the streets.

The world's 600 million stray dogs and 87 million stray cats give birth to more than 1 billion homeless puppies and kittens every year.

Tragically, those who survive also reproduce and give birth to another generation of homeless strays, repeating the cycle of suffering year after year.

This is why our mission is to end the #1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats — overpopulation — by developing a Cookie that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will, in effect, spay or neuter — without surgery.

Countless street dogs remain outside, waiting in silence.

With your help, we will end this suffering!
