Rosie was so terrified, her entire body was shaking. All alone, she was hiding in a bed of dirt and dead weeds.
Team 600 approached her slowly and cautiously. We offered her a handful of food and words of affection.
Rosie thought she was hiding from us by cowering down into the dirt, but we could always see each other’s eyes. She remained terrified for quite a while, but finally, with a bit of hope, she trusted us enough to step out from her "hiding" spot. She inhaled the food and water we gave her, so fast that we were afraid she'd choke -- but thank goodness she just swallowed it whole.
We brought Rosie to our veterinarian for a much-needed checkup, and she became one of our beloved Pilot Pups!
Our ongoing study has allowed to rescue over 150 dogs so far from a harsh life on the streets. But there is more to our mission. After being cleared by the veterinarian, the Pilot Pups are fed a trial One-Dose Spay and Neuter Cookie. The dogs then undergo routine spay surgery to remove their ovaries, since we are currently focusing on female dogs.
By studying these treated ovaries, we can determine the effectiveness of each trial Cookie. The more follicles that are impaired, the better, and the closer the Pilot Pup is to being infertile.
Our Pilot Pups' health and happiness are our top priorities. They are cared for by a veterinarian or in a loving home, never a laboratory.
Our mission is to end the number 1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats -- overpopulation -- by developing a permanent-lasting birth control cookie that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will in effect spay or neuter -- without surgery.
Help end the number 1 cause of suffering for dogs and cats...for as little as $5 a month.
We can never thank you enough for caring about animals.
