Happy Father’s Day… from a dog who never had one

I never met my dad.
And I don’t remember my mom, either.
When I was just a few weeks old, I was left to survive on the streets.
I lived in a place where the ground was sharp, the nights were cold, and the only sound I heard was my own bark echoing into nothing.
No one was coming. At least, that’s what I thought.
But one night… Team 600 MillionDogs showed up.
I was scared — unsure if I should trust anyone at all.
But something in me said: this time was different.
And it was.
They gave me something I never had: safety.
That’s what a father does, isn’t it?
Some say Father’s Day is for dads.
But to me, it is for anyone who shows up when it is hard.
Those who choose to protect instead of walk away.
Those who believe dogs like me — even the ones left behind — are still worth saving.
You are one of those people.
Because of you, I survived.
I became a Pilot Pup — one of the dogs leading the way towards a world where puppies aren’t born to suffer like I did.
At 600MillionDogs, we celebrate and honor all the father figures — the ones who rescue, foster, fight for better laws, or support the mission to stop suffering before it begins.
We are developing a Cookie to break the cycle of suffering before it starts.
A Cookie that will safely spay or neuter a stray dog or cat, and they will only have to eat one cookie, one time!
With your help, we will end this suffering.
Please join us.
This Father’s Day, thank you for being there… for dogs like me.
With love,
Vera
