So much of our work focuses on fighting cruelty and injustice toward animals. But today, we share an uplifting moment that reminds us why this fight is so important.
As Tropical Storm Debby approached, the Dorchester Paws animal shelter in South Carolina faced a scary situation. With the storm threatening to bring severe flooding, the shelter needed to evacuate over 300 animals to ensure their safety.
The shelter put out a call on Facebook and received over 500 applications for foster homes within hours!
The response was so overwhelming that cars lined up all the way down the shelter's lane and onto the highway for at least half a mile.
Luckily, every animal found a temporary home.
Even better, after the storm passed, 30 foster families couldn’t bear to part with their new companions and decided to adopt them!
Each year, natural disasters endanger the lives of thousands of animals in the U.S., and many more around the world. When measures are not taken to save them, they can be left to suffer and die while people rush to escape floods, fires, and other emergencies.
But there's an even bigger storm we must weather together — the worldwide crisis of companion animal homelessness.
With approximately 600 million stray dogs and 480 million stray cats roaming the world's streets at any given moment, we need lasting solutions.
That’s why our mission is to end the number 1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats — overpopulation — by developing a permanent-lasting birth control cookie that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will in effect spay or neuter — without surgery.
We are a small, grassroots nonprofit carrying out work that pharmaceutical companies should be doing — but they refuse.
We are dedicated to ending this global problem, and a gift of any amount will help. Support our cruelty-free studies and clinical research that saves animals and people at the same time!
Be a hero for animals today ... for as little as $5 a month!
Thank you for making a difference for animals!
