Alex Pacheco once had a shot at a career with the FBI.

He turned it away to fight for animals instead.

Alex has been arrested more than 60 times for refusing to stay silent. 

Each arrest was a moment when he could have walked away, but he chose to keep fighting.

At just 23 years old, Alex went undercover at a laboratory in Silver Spring, Maryland.

His investigation exposed monkeys living in filthy conditions with untreated injuries. 

The evidence led police to raid the laboratory and resulted in the first conviction of an animal experimenter for cruelty in U.S. history.

The Silver Spring Monkeys Case sparked a nationwide debate about the ethics of animal research.

That case could have marked the end of Alex’s fight. 

Instead, it marked the beginning of a life devoted to protecting animals from suffering.

For more than forty years, Alex has stood between animals and abuse.

He chose a path filled with arrests, threats, and constant opposition because staying silent was never an option while animals were suffering.

Today, on his birthday, Alex isn't looking back at what he's done.
