Dear Team Member,

600's mission - to end the dog and cat overpopulation through science - has taken us into new territory for an animal protection organization.   We must work with veterinary pharmaceutical formulas and drugs which are heavily regulated in the U.S. The veterinary pharmaceutical industry is dominated by multi-billion dollar drug companies, and to succeed, 600 must take on the role normally taken on by a large drug company. This means paying for and ensuring that the many steps and processes which a veterinary drug has to go through, are gone through properly.

As usual we've been extremely busy in many important arenas, and everything 600 is doing for animals is made possible by your support – which I deeply appreciate – and I take seriously my obligation to keep you informed of our progress.

There have been many developments, and today I'd like to update you on exciting activity in our Science Department.

Science Department Update 

We are pleased to have entered a new and exciting, strategic partnership with none other than the world famous veterinary non-profit organization, Planned Pethood International.

 A key reason we've formed an alliance with Planned Pethood International, is to speed up the process of accomplishing our mission to introduce the world to long lasting scientific formulas that can end the world's stray dog and cat overpopulation, and end the horrible suffering that comes with it.

Planned Pethood International was founded by the world renowned veterinarian Jeffrey Young, D.V.M.  Not only is Dr. Young a world class veterinarian, he also has an incredible track record of helping many animals in many different ways.

As just one example, he has personally surgically sterilized perhaps more dogs and cats than any other person in the world.  At last count, he has personally performed approximately one-hundred-and-sixty-five-thousand-dog-and-cat-sterilization-surgeries.

Think of it: this means he has personally spayed and neutered more dogs and cats with his own two hands, than many entire organizations.  This alone, would place Dr. Young in the Humanitarian Hall of Fame, if there was one. And there should be.

Furthermore, Dr. Young has also developed from the ground up, veterinary training and animal treatment facilities in poverty stricken counties.  This feat alone, again puts him in the top 1% of the animal protection community. He's established these special veterinary care facilities in impoverished countries because they have a critical, humanitarian need for more, and better trained veterinarians.  Making sure this happens, is just one more aspect of what Dr. Young does. 

In addition, he is an expert in efficiently and effectively coordinating the work of multiple scientists, veterinarians and experts, towards a single goal.  Why is this important?  Because our work at 600 requires a strong team approach. To accomplish the mission of 600, having this type of skill set in a Chief Scientific Director is extremely valuable. 

Most importantly, with Dr. Young as our Chief Scientific Director, the scientists we're working with will be better able to fast-track the development of the formulas that will end the worldwide stray overpopulation problem, and save millions of lives. 

We cannot thank Dr. Young enough.

 

600 is

PATENT FREE and PROFIT FREE

Because 600 is working with potentially patentable scientific formulas, some of which can be classified as veterinary pharmaceutical ingredients, there is an added layer of legal and regulatory paper work, especially in the United States, the most heavily regulated and bureaucratic country that we're working in. What effect does this have on 600? Sadly, it raises our costs.  

We are also in "drug company" territory, and it's not news that some drug companies have been know, to put their desire for profits, above the safety of the public. As can be expected, some of the drug companies don't like us.  Why? One reason is because ... we will be making our formulas available to the world, for free.

Because of all of the legalities, patents, confidentiality agreements, licenses, sub-licenses, contracts, permits, etc., involved in the American veterinary drug industry, coupled with billion dollar drug companies who don't like us, we have to proceed with caution. 

We don't want to make any miss-steps that might give our adversaries, something to use against us in any way.  For example, many of our written communications are reviewed by counsel before we send them out.  In the past 30 years of my doing "regular" animal protection work all across this country, I very rarely had to do this.  

In addition, for the same bureaucratic type reasons, we have to control and limit what we disclose and when we disclose it.

So, please accept my apology for not disclosing more details in this update.

Suffice it to say there are people out there who would love to get their hands on the details of what we are developing – and then quietly patent it without our knowledge, and legally "lock it up" to prevent others from using it - and then use it for their personal profit. 

That is the exact opposite of 600’s mission! 

Our goal is clear:

To prevent the suffering and deaths

of vast numbers of innocent animals

 and never allow a drug company's "craving for profit" to interfere.

 

When 600's scientists

develop, find, finalize or discover the final formulas,

we will make our formulas available to the entire world.

 

600 will publish these on the internet,

including the ingredients and details of how to make them,

for all the world to use.

This, is 600's policy of being Profit Free and Patent Free.

An interesting fact: In general, after someone like 600 makes their formulas publicly available to the world, those very formulas cannot be patented by anyone!

Rest assured, any and all scientific discoveries by 600 will be shared with the world for the benefit of all in need.

So please, join me in helping Dr. Young and his scientists, by providing them with the financial support they need to end the suffering of strays around the world. 

This work is expensive, and it's normally done by drug companies.  Today, it's up to us to do it, because the drug companies are NOT doing it.

We need donations to cover the basics ~ such as special diagnostic equipment to do things such as analyze multiple compounds, as well as the slightest variations of a multitude of ingredients.

Picture in our mind: the different kinds of equipment you'd find in an Intensive Care room in a hospital, or in crime labs in TV shows like Law and Order or NCIS.

We need to use the best equipment we can get our hands on, to speed up the process as much as humanly possible, and to make sure that we get the right data, the correct data, the first time around.

And of course, rest assured that No Animal is harmed in any way, shape or form.

In fact, just the opposite is true!

It's the lucky animals, who become part of our program.  

For example, the animals in our program:

1) Are strays, fortunate enough to be rescued from the streets, and

2) Get lifetime medical care, and live in pre-approved adopted homes for life!

               They become the "children" of 600 and 600 will always take care of them.

Equipment

As for the equipment we need, unfortunately it's like today's hospital equipment: high tech and expensive.

For example, we need a special centrifuge with special rotors (over $90,000), a special refrigerated centrifuge (over $4,000), a special freezer (over $17,000), a special tissue incubator (over $6,000) ~ not to mention an estimated $28,000 for a one year supply of a long list of high grade special ingredients (enzymes, buffers, peptides, and so on).

Sadly, we can't get these things off the shelf in our local hardware store.

Of course we're  doing everything we can to cut these costs ... we are begging, borrowing, substituting and renting as much as possible ~  if you know anyone who has access to this type of equipment, please let us know.

The real life differences between the make-believe Law and Order facilities and ours is: 

Instead of "searching for facts to solve the crime", we are ...

"searching for facts to solve the animal overpopulation".

What stands in between
the suffering of a billion stray puppies a year,
and ending that suffering,

and finding the right scientific formula,
is adequate funding.

the faster we'll finish the development of these formulas,
which means the sooner we can end the suffering of the strays.
